Ford Escape and Bronco Sport fuel injector may leak

NHTSA campaign 25V165000 · Reported 2025-03-14 · Ford Motor Company

critical How serious is it? About this label

Very serious because of the fire risk; Ford does not tell owners to park the vehicle, but get it in right away and stop driving if you smell gasoline.

What's wrong, in plain English

These vehicles had an earlier repair done incorrectly. A fuel injector, the part that sprays gasoline into the engine, can crack and let fuel leak out under the hood. Engine and exhaust parts nearby get very hot, so leaking gasoline there can catch fire. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving or park outside, but a fuel smell should be taken seriously. Dealers will update the engine software free.
