Ford Bronco rear door opens despite child lock

NHTSA campaign 25V303000 · Reported 2025-05-09 · Ford Motor Company

medium How serious is it? About this label

This does not affect how the vehicle drives and there is no instruction to stop driving, but a child in the left rear seat could open the door unexpectedly and be injured, so it is worth handling soon.

What's wrong, in plain English

On some 2024 Broncos, the child safety lock on the left rear door does not always work. Even with the lock switched on, someone sitting in that back seat can pull the handle and open the door from the inside. That is a problem if a child rides back there, because the door could be opened while you are driving or stopped in traffic. The dealer will check the child locks and install a new rear door latch if one is needed.

3. Until it is repaired, avoid seating a child behind the driver, and have the latch inspected or replaced at no cost to you.
