A vehicle that does not emit sound may fail to alert pedestrians of a moving vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

Electric cars run almost silently, so they are required to make an artificial sound at low speeds to warn people nearby. On these cars, the amplifier that plays that sound may be missing part of its software, so the car may make no outside sound at all. Someone walking or biking near you may not hear the car coming. A dealer will load the correct software into the amplifier free of charge.

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your car is covered. 2. Contact your Dodge dealer or Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403 (recall number 44C) for an appointment. 3. Get the amplifier software updated — it is free.

Summary
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Dodge Charger vehicles. The amplifier may be missing software, which can prevent the amplifier from emitting exterior sound, including pedestrian warnings. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 141, "Minimum Sound Requirements for Hybrid Electric Vehicles."

Remedy
Dealers will inspect and update the amplifier software, as necessary free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 26, 2025. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 44C.
