An instrument panel display that fails to show critical safety information, such as gear selection and warning lights, increases the risk of a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

A software error can make the main display screen behind the steering wheel fail. That screen is what tells you which gear the car is in and shows warning lights for the brakes, tire pressure, stability control, and airbags. If it goes blank, you could miss an important warning or not know whether the car is in drive or reverse. A dealer reloads the display software during a normal service visit.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your vehicle is included.
2. Call your Jeep or Dodge dealer, or FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (recall 39D), and book the software update.
3. Have the update done — the repair is free.

Summary
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Jeep Wagoneer S and Dodge Charger electric vehicles. A software error may cause the instrument panel display to fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment," 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems for Light Vehicles," 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems," 138, "Tire Pressure Monitoring System," and/or 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
Safety risk
An instrument panel display that fails to show critical safety information, such as gear selection and warning lights, increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will update the instrument panel software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 14, 2026. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is 39D. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning April 30, 2026.
