Ford Super Duty trucks can suddenly lose braking

NHTSA campaign 25V401000 · Reported 2025-06-13 · Ford Motor Company

critical How serious is it? About this label

Very serious — do not drive the truck until it is repaired, because the brakes can fail suddenly and without warning.

⚠ NHTSA advises not driving this vehicle until it is repaired. See all such recalls.

What's wrong, in plain English

On certain 2025 F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty trucks, a small spring that holds the brake pedal rod to the brake booster may have been left out at the factory. Without it, the rod can pop off the pedal, and the brakes can quit working with no warning while you drive. Ford says do not drive these trucks until they are repaired. Dealers will inspect and fix the pedal assembly free.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your truck is included.
2. Stop driving it and arrange to have it towed or transported to the dealer.
3. Contact your Ford dealer, or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (recall 25C26), for the free inspection and repair.

Summary
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2025 F-550 SD, F-450 SD, F-350 SD, and F-250 SD vehicles. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems" and 105, "Hydraulic and electric brake systems."
Safety risk
A sudden loss of brake function increases the risk of a crash.
