On the rear axle of these new Tiguans, a bolt that holds a steering link — called a tie rod — may be loose. A tie rod is a link that helps hold a wheel in its proper position. If that bolt is loose, you can lose control of the vehicle while driving. The repair is quick: the dealer replaces the affected bolt. Volkswagen mailed owner letters in September 2025, and there is no charge for the work.
