Very serious — losing steering control can cause a crash with no warning, so treat this as urgent even though Mercedes has not issued a park-it order.

What's wrong, in plain English

The bolt that holds the steering connection onto the steering rack may not have been tightened properly. Over time that connection can work loose. If it separates, turning the steering wheel may no longer turn the front wheels, meaning you could lose the ability to steer the vehicle. This covers certain 2023-2026 Mercedes-Benz EQE and GLC models, including the AMG GLC 43 Coupe. Dealers will check the bolts and tighten them as needed, at no charge.

2. Contact your Mercedes-Benz dealer right away, or MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372, to schedule the inspection.
3. Have the steering bolts tightened — the repair is free.

Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2023-2026 EQE and GLC vehicles. Please see the recall report for a complete list of models. The steering coupling bolt may have been improperly tightened, allowing the steering coupling to loosen from the steering rack.
Safety risk
A loose steering coupling can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will tighten the steering coupling bolts as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 6, 2025. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.
