Ford and Lincoln vehicles: backup camera image may fail
medium How serious is it? About this label
It increases the chance of backing into someone or something, and while the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, you should rely on your mirrors and a look over your shoulder until it is fixed.
What's wrong, in plain English
When you put the vehicle in reverse, the backup camera may show a picture that is upside down, distorted, or completely blank. That leaves you with less of a view behind you, so it is easier to miss a person or an object while backing up. Dealers will inspect the camera and replace it if needed at no cost. Ford is mailing owner letters in phases, starting January 2026 with more going out in June 2026.
What you should do
2. Contact a Ford or Lincoln dealer and ask for recall 25S89 to have the camera inspected and replaced if needed.
3. The work is free; call Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 if you have not received a letter.
