Ford Bronco backup camera image stays on screen

NHTSA campaign 25V888000 · Reported 2025-12-18 · Ford Motor Company

medium How serious is it? About this label

A rearview image that continues to be displayed after the vehicle is shifted out of reverse may distract the driver, increasing the risk of a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

The backup camera picture can stay on the screen after you shift out of reverse and drive away, when it should turn off. An image that lingers can pull your eyes away from the road. These Broncos were already repaired once under an earlier recall, but that repair was not done correctly, so it has to be redone. The dealer reloads the SYNC screen software, which is a software update only with no parts replaced.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your Bronco is included.
2. Contact your Ford dealer or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and mention recall 25C72.
3. The dealer updates the SYNC software, free of charge.
