Acura ZDX and Honda Prologue rearview camera may blank out

NHTSA campaign 26V306000 · Reported 2026-05-14 · Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)

medium How serious is it? About this label

Moderate risk — you can keep driving, but treat the camera as unreliable: turn and look behind you and use your mirrors every time you back up until the camera is replaced.

What's wrong, in plain English

The backup camera can show a distorted picture or no picture at all when you shift into reverse. That leaves you without a clear view of what is behind the vehicle while backing up, including people or objects low to the ground. Honda has mailed letters warning owners, but replacement cameras are not ready yet; the fix is expected in late 2026. Honda will send a second letter when you can book the free camera replacement.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your 2024 Acura ZDX or 2024-2025 Honda Prologue is covered by recall 26V306000 (Honda's numbers are DO5 and RO6).
2. Watch for Honda's second letter announcing the remedy, expected in late 2026, or call Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138 for an update.
3. Once parts are available, have the dealer replace the rearview camera — the repair is free.
