These vehicles have a Panoramic View Monitor system that shows what is behind and around you. A software error can make the backup camera image freeze or go completely blank when you shift into reverse. That means you may not see a child, a pet or an object behind the vehicle. Federal rules require a working rear view. A dealer will update the parking assist software at no cost; it is a software fix, not a part replacement.

This covers the 2023 Toyota Mirai and several Lexus models — LS 500, LS 500h, 2023-2024 ES 250, ES 300h, ES 350, and 2024 LC 500 and LC 500h — that have the Panoramic View Monitor. Because the parking-assist computer was programmed incorrectly, the backup camera picture may take a couple of seconds to appear after you shift into reverse. During that delay you cannot see what is behind the vehicle. A dealer will reprogram the software.

Your vehicle has a system that helps keep it from sliding or spinning out in a turn or on a slick road. You can switch that system off with a button. On these vehicles, a software error means the system may stay switched off the next time you start the car, instead of turning itself back on the way it is supposed to. A dealer will reload the correct software so it comes back on by itself.
