Some 2025 Mazda CX-50 and CX-50 Hybrid SUVs may have front suspension bolts that were not tightened enough at the factory. Those bolts hold parts of the front suspension and the wheels in place. If your CX-50 was fitted with a Mazda accessory trailer hitch, the bolts holding that hitch to the body may work loose over time. If they loosen enough, the whole hitch assembly can separate from the vehicle, either while you are towing or during ordinary everyday driving. A hitch that drops onto the road becomes an obstacle for you and for the drivers behind you. The repair is straightforward: a dealer tightens the hitch bolts properly. CX-50s without that accessory hitch are not affected.
The camera near the windshield that watches the road ahead may stop working properly. When that happens, three features can fail: the automatic emergency braking that stops the car for you, the lane-keep assist that nudges the steering to hold you in your lane, and the automatic switch from high beams to low beams for oncoming traffic. Your brakes, steering and headlights still work normally when you use them yourself; only the automatic helpers are affected.
The control unit for the anti-lock brake system may be damaged. This is the part that manages brake pressure, and if it is damaged, the brakes may not work as well as they should. You may need more distance than normal to bring the vehicle to a stop, which matters most in a sudden stop or on a slippery road. Dealers will check the unit and replace it if it is damaged, at no cost to you.
Some Mazda CX-50s were fitted with a Mazda accessory trailer hitch. The wiring harness that plugs into that hitch can come unplugged and get damaged. If it does, the lights and brakes on a trailer you are towing may stop working, so other drivers cannot see your turn or brake signals and the trailer cannot help slow you down. A dealer repairs the hitch wiring at no charge. Only vehicles with the accessory hitch are affected.
