Toyota 4Runner TRD package has wrong weight-rating label
low How serious is it? About this label
This is a paperwork problem rather than a broken part, and the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, but an overloaded vehicle is harder to control and raises crash risk, so avoid heavy loads until you have the corrected label.
What's wrong, in plain English
Southeast Toyota added a TRD wheel package to these 4Runners. The sticker on the door frame that lists how much total weight the vehicle can safely carry may show the wrong number. If you load the truck based on that sticker, you could end up carrying more weight than the vehicle and its tires are built to handle. The fix is simple: the distributor mails you a corrected sticker to put on in place of the wrong one.
What you should do
2. Call Southeast Toyota customer service at 1-866-405-4226 (recall SET18A) if your corrected label has not arrived.
3. Apply the corrected label over the old one when it comes in the mail — it is free.
