Toyota 4Runner has wrong weight limit sticker

NHTSA campaign 22V480000 · Reported 2022-07-06 · Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC

low How serious is it? About this label

An incorrect label may lead to unintentionally overloading the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

Some 4Runners fitted with 20-inch Black Gunner Wheels left the distributor with the wrong label showing how much weight the vehicle can safely carry. That sticker tells you the maximum combined weight of people and cargo you should put in the truck. Because the number printed on it is incorrect, you could load up the 4Runner past what it is actually rated to handle without realizing it. The distributor is mailing corrected labels to owners at no cost.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see if your 4Runner is affected. 2. Watch for the replacement label in the mail and apply it, or call Southeast Toyota customer service at 954-429-2000 (recall SET22A) if it does not arrive. 3. The new label is free — until it arrives, avoid loading the vehicle heavily.
