RAM 1500 trucks cannot defrost or defog the windshield
high How serious is it? About this label
Blocked visibility raises the risk of a crash, and although the notice does not order owners to stop driving, be very careful in any weather that fogs or frosts the windshield.
What's wrong, in plain English
Some 2019 RAM 1500 trucks were built with a 12-inch touchscreen paired with the basic heating and air conditioning system. That combination does not work: the truck has no working windshield defroster or defogger. In cold or damp weather, you cannot clear fog or frost from the glass, so you cannot see the road properly. Because the trucks cannot simply be repaired, Chrysler is buying the affected vehicles back from their owners.
