What's wrong, in plain English

These trucks have curtain airbags that drop down alongside the side windows in a crash. Because of a manufacturing defect, the metal canister that fills one or both of those bags can burst instead of inflating them properly. If that happens, sharp pieces of metal can fly out and strike people inside the truck. The problem only shows up in a crash, which is exactly when the airbag is supposed to protect you. Dealers replace the affected airbags free.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your truck is included.
2. Contact your Ram dealer, or FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (recalls C2C, C7C, C8C).
3. Have the side curtain airbags inspected and replaced as needed — the repair is free.

Summary: Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2019 Ram 1500 Classic, Ram 2500, and Ram 3500 vehicles. The right and left side curtain air bag inflators may rupture due to a manufacturing defect.
Safety risk: An inflator rupture may result in sharp metal fragments striking occupants, resulting in injury.
Remedy: Dealers will replace one or both side curtain air bags, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 18, 2025. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's numbers for this recall are C2C, C7C, and C8C. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning December 4, 2025.
