Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 side airbags can burst apart
critical How serious is it? About this label
This is serious: in a crash the airbag could wound the people it is supposed to protect. The notice does not tell you to park the truck, but treat the repair as urgent.
What's wrong, in plain English
The curtain airbags that drop down over the side windows have a part inside that inflates them with gas. Because of a manufacturing mistake, that part can break apart when the airbag goes off. Instead of just cushioning you, it can send sharp metal pieces flying into the cab and hurt the people inside. Dealers will replace one or both side curtain airbags as needed, at no cost. Owner letters were mailed in September 2025.
