Some 2019 Volkswagen Jettas had the wrong driver's airbag put in during a service or repair visit at the shop. The airbag in the steering wheel is not the correct part for the car, so in a crash bad enough to set it off, it may not work the way it is supposed to. Only a check of your VIN will tell you whether your car is one of them. A dealer will put in the correct airbag at no charge.

Summary: Volkswagen Group of America (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2019 Jetta vehicles. An incorrect driver frontal airbag may have been installed during a service/repair visit.
Safety risk: In the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment, the wrong air bag may not work correctly, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver frontal air bag with the correct part, free of charge. The recall began April 19, 2019. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 69Y7.
