This is serious because you could be left without airbag or seat belt protection in a crash; the truck is drivable, but get it fixed right away.
What's wrong, in plain English
These trucks have a computer that controls the airbags and the seat belt tighteners. The memory inside that computer can become scrambled. If that happens, the system shuts down, so the airbags would not inflate and the seat belts would not pull tight in a crash. The truck still drives normally, so the protection may simply not be there when you need it. A dealer will reprogram that computer, or replace it, at no cost.

2. Call your Ram/Chrysler dealer, or Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403, and ask about recall V61/V71.
3. Schedule the repair as soon as you can — the reprogram or replacement is free.

- Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Ram 1500 vehicles. The flash memory of the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) may become corrupted, disabling the vehicle's air bags and seat belt pretensioners.
- Safety risk
- Disabled air bags and seat belt pretensioners increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
- Remedy
- Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the ORC or replace it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began June 20, 2019. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's numbers for this recall are V61 and V71.
