Ford F-550 backup camera image can appear reversed
medium How serious is it? About this label
The driver may inadvertently turn the wrong direction to avoid an object behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.
What's wrong, in plain English
These 2018 Ford F-550s were built out by Farber with an ASA Voyager monitor that shows the back-up camera picture. The monitor can reset itself to its factory settings, and when it does, the picture comes up flipped, like a mirror image. Left looks like right. If you are backing up and there is something behind you, you could steer the wrong way trying to miss it. Dealers add a small electrical part that stops the settings from resetting.
What you should do
2. Call Farber customer service at 1-800-331-3188 or ASA at 1-800-384-4400 to schedule the fix.
3. Have the harness relay capacitor module installed at no charge.
