Ram 1500 warning lights may not illuminate

NHTSA campaign 19V556000 · Reported 2019-07-26 · Chrysler (FCA US LLC)

medium How serious is it? About this label

Moderately serious, because the truck itself drives normally but you might miss a warning about a real problem, so you can keep driving while you schedule the free replacement.

What's wrong, in plain English

The instrument cluster is the display behind the steering wheel with your gauges and warning lights. On these trucks it may not light up the warning symbols the way it should. That means a problem with the truck's systems could go unnoticed because the light never comes on, and you could keep driving with a fault you do not know about. Dealers will replace the whole cluster at no charge.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your truck is included in recall V83.
2. Call your Ram dealer for an appointment, or Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403.
3. Have the instrument cluster replaced; there is no charge to you.
