Overheating brakes can fail and cause a crash; the notice does not tell you to stop driving, but if you smell burning or the truck feels like it is dragging, get it looked at right away.
What's wrong, in plain English
The brake calipers are the parts that squeeze the brake pads against the wheels to slow you down. On these trucks, the calipers were built using the wrong fluid during assembly, and that fluid can make the rubber seals inside swell up. Swollen seals keep the brakes from fully releasing, so they drag against the wheels. Dragging brakes get very hot, and overheated brakes can stop working properly. A dealer will replace the front calipers and brake hoses and bleed the brakes.

- Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2019 Ram 2500, 3500 and 3500 Cab Chassis trucks. The brake calipers may have been manufactured with an incorrect assembly fluid, which can cause the caliper's rubber seals to swell.
