Dodge Grand Caravan rear seat anchors may fail in crash
high How serious is it? About this label
Chrysler did not tell owners to stop driving, but a rear seat that comes loose in a crash puts passengers — often kids — at higher risk of injury, so get it repaired soon.
What's wrong, in plain English
The metal latches that anchor the rear seats to the floor are held on by welds that may not be strong enough. The welds on the outer second-row seats can fail in a front-end crash, and the ones on the third-row bench can fail in a rear-end crash. The second-row bench and bucket seats also may not hold up to the required loads, so a seat or its belt may not hold someone in place.
What you should do
2. Call a Dodge dealer or FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and ask for recall V91.
3. The dealer will weld reinforcement brackets onto the second- and third-row seat strikers, free of charge.
