Unintended vehicle movement raises the risk of a crash; the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, so normal driving may continue while you get the software updated.

What's wrong, in plain English

These cars have a feature that lets you park them using the key fob while you stand outside. The software that controls it is faulty. If the remote parking system develops a problem, the software may not stop the car from moving as it should. That means the vehicle could move when you did not intend it to. A dealer will reload corrected software into the system, which fixes the problem without replacing any parts.

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your car is included. 2. Call your Hyundai dealer, or Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 (recall 191), to book the software update. 3. Have the reprogramming done free of charge.

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2020 Nexo and Sonata vehicles. The Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) software may fail to prevent vehicle movement upon detection of an RSPA system malfunction.

Remedy
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the RSPA software, free of charge. The recall began June 3, 2020. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 191.
