Toyota RAV4 front suspension arms may crack

NHTSA campaign 20V286000 · Reported 2020-05-20 · Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing

high How serious is it? About this label

This is serious because a broken arm can cause a crash; the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, but you should get the free repair as soon as a dealer can take you.

What's wrong, in plain English

The metal arms that connect each front wheel to your RAV4's body may have cracks in them. If one of those arms breaks, the wheel it holds can come loose from the rest of the suspension. That could make you lose control of the vehicle while driving. Toyota dealers will replace both front lower arms, the left one and the right one, with new parts at no cost to you.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your RAV4 is included.
2. Call your Toyota dealer, or Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371, and mention recall 20TB08 / 20TA08.
3. Have both front lower suspension arms replaced — the parts and labor are free.
