Ram 1500 and ProMaster side curtain airbags may not inflate
high How serious is it? About this label
Serious, because the airbag may not protect you in a crash, though the vehicle drives normally and the notice does not tell owners to stop driving.
What's wrong, in plain English
Some 2020 Ram ProMaster vans and Ram 1500 pickups have a side curtain airbag — the one that drops down along the windows to protect your head — that was put together wrong. A part inside that channels the gas into the bag was not crimped properly, so it can come loose when the airbag goes off. If that happens in a crash, the airbag may not fill the way it should and may not protect you. Dealers will replace the airbags free.
What you should do
2. Call your Ram dealer, or FCA US at 1-800-853-1403 (recall W52), for an appointment.
3. Have the side curtain airbag assemblies replaced at no charge.
