Ford F-650, F-750 missing heat shields can burn skin

NHTSA campaign 20V413000 · Reported 2020-07-17 · Ford Motor Company

medium How serious is it? About this label

Moderate: the notice describes a burn-type injury from touching hot surfaces rather than a crash risk, and it does not tell owners to stop driving the truck.

What's wrong, in plain English

When these trucks were built, the factory left out the heat shield and other heat-blocking parts underneath the cab. Without them, heat from under the truck can reach the cab floor and the metal parts that hold the seats down, and in some driving conditions those surfaces get very hot. If your skin touches them, you could be hurt. A dealer will install the missing shield, an insulating patch, and covers for the seat base and seat bolts.
