Ram 1500 and 2500 driver-side mirror glass can fall out

NHTSA campaign 20V622000 · Reported 2020-10-08 · Chrysler (FCA US LLC)

medium How serious is it? About this label

The truck is still drivable, but losing your driver-side mirror leaves a serious blind spot and raises your crash risk, so get it replaced promptly and be extra careful changing lanes until then.

What's wrong, in plain English

On these 2020 Ram 1500 and 2500 trucks, the mirror glass on the driver's side door mirror can come loose and fall off its backing plate. Once the glass is gone, you have no reflection on that side, so you cannot see traffic coming up beside or behind you on the left. That blind spot makes changing lanes and merging much riskier. The mirror does not meet the federal rear-visibility rule, and a dealer will replace the glass.

What you should do

1. Look up your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your truck is covered.
2. Contact your Ram dealer to have the driver-side mirror glass replaced at no charge.
3. Questions or trouble getting an appointment: call FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and cite recall W70.
