Ram 4500, 5500 rear brake hose may wear through
high How serious is it? About this label
Losing part or all of your rear brakes is serious and could cause a crash, so get this inspected right away even though the notice does not order owners to stop driving.
What's wrong, in plain English
These trucks were fitted with a suspension system by an outside company, and the flexible rubber hose feeding a rear brake may have been routed where it rubs against a suspension part. Over time that rubbing wears the hose thin and brake fluid can leak out. If that happens, the rear brakes can work weakly or stop working altogether, so the truck takes much longer to stop. The shop repairs the suspension and the worn brake line.
