Ram 1500 Classic missing brake pedal retaining clip
critical How serious is it? About this label
Extremely serious — owners are told not to drive until they receive inspection and repair instructions, because the brakes can stop working entirely.
⚠ NHTSA advises not driving this vehicle until it is repaired. See all such recalls.
What's wrong, in plain English
Some of these trucks were built without a small clip that holds the brake pedal onto the rod running into the brake system. Without it, the pedal can come apart from the brakes. If that happens, pressing the pedal does nothing and you cannot slow or stop the truck. Chrysler says not to drive these trucks until you get instructions. A dealer will check the truck and install the missing clip at no cost to you.
