Chevrolet and Isuzu trucks may lose rear axle nuts
high How serious is it? About this label
This is serious: losing the driveshaft and stalling, possibly with little warning, raises the risk of a crash, so have the truck inspected promptly even though the notice does not tell owners to park it.
What's wrong, in plain English
This recall covers a group of Isuzu and Chevrolet commercial trucks, including 2017-2020 Chevrolet 4500XD, 4500HD, and 5500HD, 2020 Chevrolet 5500XD, and several Isuzu NPR, NQR, NRR and Reach models. The large U-shaped bolts that hold the rear axle in place may not have been tightened properly, so their nuts can work loose. If that happens, the axle can shift out of line, the driveshaft can come apart, and the truck can lose power to the rear wheels and quit moving.
What you should do
2. Contact your Isuzu or Chevrolet dealer to schedule an inspection, or call Isuzu customer service at 1-866-441-9638 and reference recall V2103.
3. Have the dealer inspect and, if needed, replace and properly tighten the rear axle U-bolt nuts — free of charge.
