Chevrolet 5500HD rear wheel lug nuts may loosen

NHTSA campaign 19V835000 · Reported 2019-11-20 · Isuzu Technical Center of America, Inc.

critical How serious is it? About this label

A rear wheel separating can cause a crash with no warning, so although no park-it order was issued, have the lug nuts checked as soon as possible.

What's wrong, in plain English

The lug nuts on the rear outer wheels of these Isuzu-built trucks, sold as the Chevrolet 5500HD and related models, may not have been tightened properly when the wheels were put on at the factory. Nuts that start out loose can back off over time, and a rear wheel can come off the truck while you are driving. Dealers will check those lug nuts and tighten or replace them at no charge.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your truck is covered by recall V1906.
2. Contact your dealer for the lug nut inspection, or call Isuzu at 1-866-441-9638 or Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020.
3. Have the nuts tightened or replaced — the service is free.
