What's wrong, in plain English

A part that senses brake fluid pressure can leak fluid into the electrical switch next to it. The fluid lets electricity go where it should not, which overheats the wiring and can start a fire. This can happen while you are driving the truck or while it sits parked. The dealer replaces the pressure sensor on the master cylinder and looks over the wiring, replacing that too if it has been damaged. All of this is done at no cost to you.

What you should do

1. Look up your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your truck is affected.
2. Park the truck outside and away from buildings until the repair is finished.
3. Call your Chevrolet dealer or 1-800-222-1020 (recall N222375270) to schedule the free repair.

General Motors. LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2023 Chevrolet 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD Medium-Duty trucks. The brake pressure sensor assembly may leak brake fluid into the brake pressure switch and cause an electrical short-circuit.
Safety risk
An electrical short in the brake pressure switch can overheat the circuit and increase the risk of a fire while driving or parked.
Remedy
Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will replace the master cylinder pressure sensor and inspect the wire harness, replacing it, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 11, 2023.
