What's wrong, in plain English

The upper control arm is one of the metal links that holds the rear wheel in place and lets the suspension move. It bolts to the car with a screw connection, and on these cars that connection may be loose. A loose connection can eventually fail. If it does, the rear of the car can move in ways you do not expect, making the car unstable and hard to control. Dealers will rework and tighten the connection at no charge.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your 911 is on the list.
2. Contact a Porsche dealer, or Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243 (recall AMA6), to schedule service.
3. Have the rear axle upper control arm connection reworked and tightened — free of charge.

Summary: Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (Porsche) is recalling certain 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster, 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera S Coupe, Carrera 4S Coupe, and Carrera S Cabriolet vehicles. The screw connection on the rear axle upper control arm may be loose.
Safety risk: A loose connection may fail, causing driving instability and increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Porsche will notify owners, and dealers will rework and tighten the screw connection on the rear axle upper control arm, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 21, 2021. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche's number for this recall is AMA6.
