Complete brake pedal failure is about as serious as a defect gets, and although Porsche has not issued a do-not-drive order, this should be your next appointment.

What's wrong, in plain English

A rod inside the brake booster — the part that links your brake pedal to the rest of the braking system — may be loose and could come apart. If that happens, the brake pedal fails, so pressing it will not slow or stop the car. This affects certain 2020-2021 911 Carrera and Taycan models. Dealers will inspect the brake booster and repair or replace it, free of charge. Owner letters went out in late October 2021.

Safety risk
A detached pressure input rod will cause the brake pedal to fail, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will repair or replace the brake booster as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 28, 2021. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche's number for this recall is AMB9.
