Chevrolet Traverse side curtain airbags may be improperly attached

NHTSA campaign 21V246000 · Reported 2021-04-08 · General Motors, LLC

medium How serious is it? About this label

It matters in a crash rather than day to day, and the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, so you can keep driving while you schedule the free inspection.

What's wrong, in plain English

The side curtain airbags are the long bags that drop down over the windows in a side crash or rollover. On these vehicles they may not be fastened to the body correctly, because the weld nuts holding them can be out of line. A bag that is not held firmly may not work the way it is supposed to. A dealer inspects the mounting and realigns or replaces those nuts. Owner letters went out in May 2021.
