Jeep Wrangler side marker lights may not work

NHTSA campaign 22V326000 · Reported 2022-05-12 · Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)

medium How serious is it? About this label

Nonfunctional side marker lights may reduce vehicle visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

The side marker lights - the small lights on the sides of your Jeep near the front and rear corners - may not light up. The wrong wiring harness was used in the tail light assembly, so the lights never get power. Federal rules require these lights to work. Without them, other drivers have a harder time seeing your Jeep from the side, especially at night or in bad weather. Dealers replace the tail light assemblies free of charge.

What you should do

1. Look up your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your Wrangler is in recall Z43.
2. Contact your Jeep dealer, or FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403, to schedule the work.
3. Have the tail light assemblies replaced - there is no charge.
