36 recalls covering model years 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023. To check whether your vehicle is affected, look up your 17-character VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls — a recall may apply only to some vehicles of a given year.
The wiring that feeds the electric power steering pump can overheat. That overheating can start a fire in the vehicle, and it can happen even when the Jeep is parked with the ignition switched off — so shutting it down does not make it safe. A dealer will inspect the wiring and the power steering pump and replace either part if needed, at no cost. Owner notification letters are expected to go out July 9, 2026.

The large high-voltage battery in these plug-in hybrid Jeeps can fail inside and catch fire. It can happen while you are driving or while the vehicle is parked. Until it is fixed, Jeep says park outside away from buildings and do not plug the vehicle in to charge. A dealer will update the battery software and replace the battery if needed, free of charge. Vehicles already repaired under recalls 24V720 or 23V787 still need this new repair.

The wiring for the rearview camera and the center brake light — the one mounted high on the back — can short out. When that happens, the camera picture will not show when you back up, and the center brake light will not light up when you slow down, so drivers behind you may not see that you are braking. Dealers replaced the wiring, and the spare tire carrier assembly if needed, free of charge. Chrysler says all affected vehicles were repaired by January 15, 2024.
The instrument cluster, the panel behind the steering wheel with your speedometer, gauges and warning lights, can short out inside and stop working. If it goes dark while you are driving, you will not see how fast you are going or any warning lights telling you something is wrong, which can lead to a crash. Because the problem is in the hardware, dealers replace the whole cluster, free of charge. Owner letters went out between October 2024 and January 2025, so the repair is available now.

Certain 2021 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles have a software problem in the computer that controls the engine and transmission. The software can cause the engine to stall, which means you suddenly lose power to the wheels while driving. These vehicles were already fixed once under an earlier recall, but that fix was not enough — they need the new repair too. A dealer will load updated software into the powertrain control module at no cost.

A part in the steering column may not have been welded correctly at the factory. That part carries the electrical signal to the driver's airbag in the steering wheel. If the weld is bad, the airbag may not inflate during a crash, so the driver would not get the protection it is supposed to give. A dealer will check the part and replace it if needed at no cost to you.
A software mistake in one of the vehicle's computers can stop the windshield defroster and defogger from working. That is the system that clears fog and ice off the inside and outside of your windshield. If it quits on a cold or damp day, you may not be able to see clearly out the front. The vehicles also do not meet the federal safety rule for defrosters. Dealers will update the software free.
Your Wrangler is a plug-in hybrid, so it carries a large battery under the vehicle. On these vehicles that battery can break down inside itself and start a fire — either while you are driving or while the car sits parked and switched off. Chrysler says to stop plugging it in to charge, and to park it outdoors, away from your house, garage, carport or anything else that could burn, until a dealer fixes it. The dealer updates the battery software and replaces the battery pack if needed.

On these manual-transmission Wranglers and Gladiators, shifting into reverse may not bring up the backup camera picture and may not turn on the reverse lights. That means you can be backing up with no camera view on the screen and no lights to warn people behind you that you are moving. The vehicles do not meet the federal rules for rear visibility and lighting. Dealers will replace the gear position sensor free of charge. Letters were mailed November 16, 2023.

On these Wranglers, the spare tire mounted on the back can block the view of the brake light high in the center of the rear window. The big battery pack that powers this plug-in hybrid was built with the wrong fasteners holding a large 200-amp fuse in place. That can make the fuse run too hot. Too much heat can make the fuse fail, and the vehicle can lose drive power while you are on the road. A dealer will inspect the fuse and replace it if needed, and also check the battery pack itself and replace it if it is damaged — all free.
These vehicles have a 3.0-liter diesel engine with a high-pressure fuel pump that can break. If the pump fails, the engine can stall, meaning it can quit while you are driving and leave you without power in traffic. Dealers will replace the fuel pump, along with other fuel system parts if they are needed, free of charge. Chrysler mailed owner notification letters on October 17, 2023.
On certain 2020-2022 Jeep Wrangler vehicles, a metal stud on the frame sits close to the fuel tank. In a crash, that stud can punch a hole in the tank and let gasoline leak out. If leaking fuel reaches a hot surface or a spark, it can catch fire. Dealers will look at the frame and, if the stud is there, remove it and paint the area, all at no charge.
These Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators have a manual transmission, and the clutch — the part that connects the engine to the gears when you press the left pedal — can get too hot and crack apart. Overheated clutch parts can start a fire. Broken pieces can also damage nearby parts, drop debris onto the road, or leave the vehicle unable to move under its own power. The dealer replaces the whole clutch assembly and updates the software, free.
Your Jeep Wrangler 4xe is a plug-in hybrid. The computers that run the engine, transmission and hybrid system can stop talking to each other. When that happens, the vehicle shuts the engine down completely instead of letting you keep moving at reduced power. If it happens while you are driving, you lose the power that moves the vehicle. The repair is new software for three control computers so the vehicle drops into a limited limp-home mode instead of shutting off.

The front seat belts in these vehicles have a small part inside the belt reel that yanks the belt tight the instant a crash begins. On some vehicles that part was welded incorrectly at the factory, so the tightener may not work. The belt would still latch and hold you, but it would not pull snug the way it is designed to, so you could move farther forward in a crash. Dealers will replace the front belt reels.

The side marker lights - the small lights on the sides of your Jeep near the front and rear corners - may not light up. The wrong wiring harness was used in the tail light assembly, so the lights never get power. Federal rules require these lights to work. Without them, other drivers have a harder time seeing your Jeep from the side, especially at night or in bad weather. Dealers replace the tail light assemblies free of charge.

On the recalled vehicles, the retractor may lock but then fail to slow your forward movement properly. The software in your 8.4-inch or 12-inch radio screen has a bug. After you back up and shift out of reverse, the picture from the backup camera can stay on the screen instead of switching back to the normal display. That means you can be driving forward while a rear-facing picture is still showing, which can pull your eyes and attention off the road ahead. The fix is a software update for the radio screen.
These Wrangler and Gladiator models with a manual transmission can overheat the clutch pressure plate, the part that clamps the clutch together when you shift gears. On some 2020 Jeep Wranglers, a bracket on the left side of the front axle and the weld holding it may be in the wrong position. That bracket anchors the lower control arm, a key part that locates the front wheel. If the bad weld lets go, the control arm can come apart from the axle. Losing that connection while driving can cause a crash. Dealers will inspect the front axle and replace it if needed.

The metal strap that holds the driver's seat belt buckle to the seat frame can crack and break away from the seat. On some four-door Wranglers, the latch for the right rear passenger door may have been installed in the wrong spot. When it is out of position, the door may not close and lock into place the way it should. That means the door could pop open on its own, including while the vehicle is moving. The front track bar is a steel link that keeps the front axle centered under the truck. On these Wranglers, the brackets holding that bar to the frame may have been welded poorly. A bad weld can let the bracket break away from the frame, and when that happens the steering can suddenly stop working properly. Dealers will check the welds and fix the brackets if needed.

These vehicles have cruise control, which holds a set speed for you. A short circuit in the wiring can lock the cruise control on. If that happens, tapping the brake pedal or pressing the off button may not shut it off, and the vehicle can keep its speed or even speed up on its own. The wrong part may have been installed inside the automatic transmission. It is a rod that locks the transmission when you move the shifter into Park. If the wrong rod is in there, the transmission may not actually lock, so the vehicle can roll on its own after you think you have parked it. That could hurt someone standing nearby or cause a crash. The metal rail that runs under the back of your Jeep can rust. If it rusts badly, the floor under the rear seat gets weaker and the left rear seat mount can work loose. A loose seat is not an obvious problem day to day, but in a crash the back seat could break free from the floor.
