Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon and Escalade third-row seat belt flaw

NHTSA campaign 22V617000 · Reported 2022-08-11 · General Motors, LLC

high How serious is it? About this label

Serious for anyone riding in the third row; the notice does not say to stop driving, but get the buckles checked before carrying passengers back there.

What's wrong, in plain English

This affects SUVs equipped with third-row seats. The small metal rivet that holds the seat belt buckle to its bracket may have been made wrong on the left or right third-row belt. If the rivet is not formed properly, the buckle may not hold a passenger in place during a crash, so someone in the back row could be hurt. A dealer will inspect both third-row buckles and replace them if needed, free of charge.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your SUV is included (GM's recall number is N222372380).
2. Call Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020, GMC at 1-800-462-8782, or Cadillac at 1-800-458-8006, or contact your dealer, to schedule the inspection.
3. Have both third-row seat belt buckles inspected and replaced if necessary. The repair is free.
