Kia Telluride tow hitch wiring can start a fire
critical How serious is it? About this label
Serious — a fire can start while parked or driving and could injure someone, so park outside and away from buildings until the free repair is done; the notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English
This affects Tellurides that came with a Kia 4-pin tow hitch wiring kit, or had one added at a Kia dealer. Dirt and water can build up on the small circuit board inside that wiring, which lets the electricity short out. That short can start a fire, and it can happen whether you are driving or the vehicle is parked. The dealer adds a new fuse and a wiring extension, and replaces the hitch wiring itself if needed.
What you should do
2. Park it outside, away from your home, garage, and other structures, until the work is done.
3. Call your Kia dealer or Kia at 1-800-333-4542 (recall SC247) to schedule the free repair.
