Ram heavy-duty diesel trucks can lose engine power

NHTSA campaign 22V642000 · Reported 2022-08-26 · Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)

high How serious is it? About this label

Serious — losing power while driving could leave you stranded in traffic and lead to a crash; the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, but get it fixed as soon as a dealer can take you.

What's wrong, in plain English

The computer that controls your diesel engine may have a part inside it that was installed crooked. That part can short out, and when it does the computer stops talking to the rest of the truck. The result is that your truck can lose power while you are driving. This affects certain Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 models with the 6.7L Cummins turbo diesel engine. A dealer will put in a new engine computer at no cost to you.
