Audi Q3 fuel may spill when gas cap opened

NHTSA campaign 22V673000 · Reported 2022-09-08 · Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.

medium How serious is it? About this label

A damaged vent pipe may allow fuel to spill out of the filler neck when the fuel cap is opened, increasing the risk of an injury. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

A small vent pipe inside the fuel tank may have been damaged while the tank was being put together at the factory. The vent pipe lets air move in and out as the tank fills. If it is damaged, fuel can push back up and spill out of the filler neck when you open the gas cap. Spilled gasoline can splash on you or on the ground, which can cause injury.
