Dodge Charger, Durango shifter may slip out of drive

NHTSA campaign 22V866000 · Reported 2022-11-23 · Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)

high How serious is it? About this label

Losing drive power suddenly, especially in traffic, can cause a crash with little warning; the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, but this should be repaired as soon as possible.

What's wrong, in plain English

Certain 2022 Dodge Charger and Durango vehicles have a shifter assembly that was not heat-treated correctly, so the metal is not as strong as it should be. Because of that, the shifter may not fully catch in the "drive" position. It can slip out of drive on its own, and the vehicle would suddenly stop pulling while you are on the road. Dealers will replace the shifter assembly free of charge.
