Tesla Model S and X front seat belts may detach

NHTSA campaign 23V488000 · Reported 2023-07-14 · Tesla, Inc.

high How serious is it? About this label

This one is serious: a belt that comes apart may not hold you in place in a crash, so injuries could be much worse — the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, but get it inspected as soon as you can.

What's wrong, in plain English

The front seat belts in these cars may not have been attached correctly to their anchor points at the factory. The anchor is the part that holds the belt to the car and pulls it tight in a crash. Because that connection may be wrong, a front seat belt can come loose or pull away from the car. Tesla will inspect both front belts, connect them properly, and replace the belt assemblies if that is needed.
