Honda CR-V door label lists wrong weight and tire info

NHTSA campaign 23V524000 · Reported 2023-07-27 · Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)

medium How serious is it? About this label

An incorrectly sized tire may cause premature tread wear, or a tire blow out, increasing the risk of a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

The sticker on the driver's door frame of these CR-Vs shows the wrong numbers. It lists an incorrect maximum loaded weight for the vehicle and each axle, and the wrong tire size. Owners and tire shops use that sticker when buying replacement tires and when loading up the car, so the bad information could lead to the wrong size tire being put on. Honda will put a new, corrected label on the door at no cost.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your CR-V is included. 2. Call your Honda dealer, or Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138 (recall CF7), and schedule the label replacement free of charge. 3. Until the new label is on, don't rely on the door sticker for tire size or weight limits — ask the dealer for the correct figures before buying tires or loading heavy cargo.
