An owner whose TIN information is missing may not recognize that their vehicle is involved in a safety recall and continue to drive on recalled tires, increasing the risk of a crash. The notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

The code stamped on the tire sidewall that identifies each tire is missing its four-digit date section. That date is how tire makers and owners tell which tires are covered by a safety recall. Without it, you might never learn your tires were recalled and could keep driving on them. This recall is about that missing marking, which federal tire rules require, and Honda will replace the tires if needed.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to check whether your CR-V is included.
2. Call your Honda dealer, or Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138 (recall BIS), to schedule a tire inspection.
3. The dealer inspects and replaces the tires as necessary, free of charge.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 139, "New Pneumatic Radial Tires for Light Vehicles."

Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the tires as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 27, 2024. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is BIS.
