Ram truck dashboard shows wrong brake warning light

NHTSA campaign 25V530000 · Reported 2025-08-18 · Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)

medium How serious is it? About this label

Missing a real brake warning increases the risk of a crash, so have it replaced soon; the notice does not tell owners to stop driving or park outside.

What's wrong, in plain English

The dashboard gauge cluster in certain 2026 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500 and 5500 trucks, including cab chassis versions, can show the wrong brake system warning light. That means if something goes wrong with the brakes, the truck may not warn you the way it is supposed to, so you would not know to get it looked at. A dealer replaces the whole instrument panel cluster free of charge.

What you should do

1. Look up your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your truck is covered. 2. Contact your Ram or Chrysler dealer for an appointment, or call customer service at 800-853-1403 (recall 79C). 3. Have the instrument cluster replaced — it is free.
