Rivian R1S and R1T can lose drive power

NHTSA campaign 25V537000 · Reported 2025-08-21 · Rivian Automotive, LLC

high How serious is it? About this label

This is serious because a sudden loss of drive power while you are on the road increases the risk of a crash; Rivian does not tell owners to stop driving, but get the inspection done as soon as you can.

What's wrong, in plain English

Inside the box that routes high-voltage power from the battery to the rest of the truck or SUV, one ground connection may not have been made properly. If that connection fails, the vehicle can lose drive power, meaning it stops pulling and you can no longer accelerate. Losing power in traffic raises the chance of a crash. Rivian will check the connection and repair it, or replace the whole battery pack if that is what it takes.
