What's wrong, in plain English

One or both front turn signals on these trucks and SUVs may not light up and flash when you signal. Drivers ahead of you and at intersections then get no warning that you are about to turn or change lanes. Because of this, the vehicles do not meet the federal rule covering lamps and signals. You may not notice the problem from the driver's seat, since the front lamps are hard to see while you are driving.

Component: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TURN SIGNAL
Summary: Rivian Automotive, LLC (Rivian) is recalling certain 2025-2026 R1S and R1T vehicles. One or both front turn signals may fail to illuminate and flash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Safety risk: Turn signals that do not function properly increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Rivian will inspect and replace the front turn signals as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 29, 2026. Owners may contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4261. Rivian's number for this recall is FSAM-1833. This is an expansion of Recall 25V387. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov on August 31, 2026.
