Ford Expedition, F-Series moonroof wind deflector can fly off

NHTSA campaign 25V729000 · Reported 2025-10-24 · Ford Motor Company

medium How serious is it? About this label

Moderate — a detached deflector becomes road debris that could cause a crash for you or someone behind you; the notice does not tell owners to stop driving.

What's wrong, in plain English

The clips that hold the wind deflector to the moonroof frame may not be attached well enough. The deflector is the small screen at the front edge of the moonroof opening that cuts down wind noise. If the clips let go, the deflector can come off the vehicle and land on the road, where it becomes a hazard for you and for drivers behind you. Dealers will inspect it and repair or reattach it as needed, free of charge.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls — these VINs became searchable October 30, 2025 (Ford's recall number is 25SB7).
2. Schedule an inspection with a Ford or Lincoln dealer, or call Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332.
3. The inspection and any needed repair to the moonroof wind deflector are free.
